03 October 09

Hi

just a follow up on another freelance job. Down to ONE~
The poster here was requested as a help poster to recruit nurses and doctors for a mission trip to Timor Leste.

Here you see me playing around with the layouts and colours.

Ended up choosing the one with the film strip. From what dom says, it acts as a good support element, giving information on what the event is about. Some mistakes here is that the focal point isn't very obvious, and the title and the film strip are sort of snatching attention from one another.

Final adjustments are made. Probably something I will want to change is the direction of the tilt, creating a slant that leads to the title.

That's all for now.

01 October 09 Update

Hi

I've been busy these weeks, so I never really gotten to do those speedpaint sessions I wanted to do. I watched some tutorials online on concept arts, and I'm really hyped on trying out some techniques and playing around with photoshop, but I don't really have much time to spare.

Anyway, I'm currently having 3 Freelance jobs, while finishing another 2 along the way.
Progress has been.... slow, I'm almost done with one which has been going on for about a month and a half now. REALLY BIG HEADACHE to do that job, I'm not going to say what it is.

Below, you'll see one of my current freelance jobs. Photo restoration

So... this is the editted. Man I feel happy finishing this, lol.

Took me about a 6hours?

So that's down to 2 freelance jobs left.
Can't wait to do some concepts/illustrations to post up here.

18 SEPTEMBER 09

It's night again! I don't really have anything to post, so I just dug out this recently old work. These are some drone concepts for the game I'm doing.

Anyway, it's been a crazy 2 weeks for me. Met lots of people, but I think the best part is looking back to several years ago, my dreams are slowly coming true.
If I wanna start improving, gonna change my work habits. So... other than 2 drawings per day for my freelance job, I'll spend...

1 hr speedpainting
2 hr illustrations touch-up
Everyday~ Definitely a good habit to keep. Even ragman's doing it.

Looking at Cheryl's work just wows me. I got to be more patient in my work, hopefully one day I can reach that standard too :)

There's so many people I admire...

14 September 2009

It's night again, so it's quiet right now when I can think clearly. It has been a busy week for me, I just finished working my first sales job ever! So yeah, pat on my back. xD

But anyway, it's been really strange, because up until now, all I've done for the past 3 years are freelance jobs, so this was really a new experience for me, definately a really good one which I'll treasure always.
For the past few days, I met up with more people I've ever encountered on the train. It have opened up many opportunities for me, getting to know the other artists and design students working under the Wacom booth for Comex 09, even getting to know other people who are interested in the design industry. I even got another job offer while I was demonstrating a software! :D

I need to appreciate my work experience more, even if they were just small freelance jobs, the experience is invaluable and it teaches you skills you can never expect to find in a textbook.

Anyone out there who's reading this, this is just the proof for you to try new things, that it might lead to something good! :)

Also, 3d modelling is not my thing. Prolly just focus on 2D
